Glob Arcade
We are thrilled to announce our 4th Nush & Doza Anniversary merch design: The Glob Arcade!
Like previous anniversaries, we are continuing our tradition of hosting a limited-time anniversary sale featuring this design on a variety of merchandise in a myriad of colors and sizes to meet every Glob’s preference from July 16th, 2022 - August 31st, 2022 to celebrate 4 wonderful years!
It features 4 Glob-tastic games inspired by some of our favorite arcade games! Below you’ll find a brief look into the inspiration of each game featured in the Glob Arcade design and how they were conceptualized.
Dance Dance Globolution
This game is obviously inspired by none other than the popular music video game series by Konami called Dance Dance Revolution or DDR for short! We've shared how much we love these games with each other and y'all on numerous occasions through our journey. In fact, we included it in an old Glob Blog post over on our website featuring 'Our Top Video Games For Fitness Goals' a couple of years ago and even drew our Globs playing DDR.
In case you didn't know, we love dancing! It's something we love doing together and hopefully you've heard some anecdotes here and there about dance during our livestreams as well. Nush grew up loving dance and was even classically trained when she was younger. Here's a pic of kid Nush IRL before a Bharatanatyam (Indian classical dance) performance. ;)
Growing up she danced a lot from following on with music videos in her living room, performing at dance recitals, and making sure she did a round of DDR any time she came across one at an arcade. So naturally when Doza came into her life she always made it a point to play it with him too!
Although it would be ridiculously expensive - how cool would it be to have an actual Dance Dance Globolution arcade game system setup..thing?! We picture it being in our globby colors and having routines mapped out for all of our favorite songs from EDM, Bollywood, Gaming music, Latin Pop, and all the nostalgic top hits from over the years and more as our tastes in music changes. Maybe we would even have TikTok dance challenge trends configured to the classic up/down/left/right pads or include some diagonal arrow pads like Pump It Up does (another arcade dance game we enjoy)?! The possibilities are quite endless, and there wouldn't a Glob Arcade without one!
Super Glob World
The name of this game is a play on Super Mario World, one of our favorite video games from our childhood! We've both spent many hours playing this wonderful Nintendo game over the years, and we're sure most of you have played or watched this game in some capacity as well. After all, it's a classic and peak gaming in our opinion. Unlike Super Mario World where Mario is on a quest to save Princess Toadstool (Peach) from Bowser and the Koopalings, Super Glob World is a story about two Globs as they journey through life on the pursuit of happiness by facing down numerous villains and challenges along the way.
A very big ambitious dream we have, and enjoy talking about, is to make a video game some day! We even have a shared document of notes through the years that we constantly add to about ideas, concepts, etc. as inspiration strikes. While we don't know if the final name of the game would be Super Glob World, it's a placeholder for now as we continue on this journey in hopefully manifesting this vision into reality someday!
We envision a co-op narrative action adventure fantasy game with platforming, critical decision making, and some simulation type play with a sprinkle of puzzles and mini games. Essentially we are taking our favorite video game styles and combining them into one big adventure inspired by some of our favorite games like Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda, Life Is Strange, and Uncharted.
We've even toyed with the idea of a Glob character creation segment similar to Elden Ring, etc. but obviously much more stylized and simplistic for players to create their own Glob with ways to customize with accessories, colors, etc. throughout the course of the game's progression like Kirby or Among Us. There are even some ideas for side quests, NPCs, the entire world/map, and so much more!
The reality of a video game like this would be a dream come true and we hope we have the time and resources to be able to accomplish something like this in the future but only time will tell. Until then, we can picture it here in our Glob Arcade (though we'd want it to be on PC and major consoles if it ever does come out).
Grab-A-Glob
A Glob Arcade would also not be complete without a claw machine game with merch. In this case, Grab-A-Glob is the ultimate claw machine to get your own Glob!
When it comes to merch, the one item we get asked about all the time is Glob plushies. This is another goal of ours so you know we had to add and honor that in some way into our arcade.
So far, in terms of Glob Merch, it has been through several print-on-demand sites where we upload designs that can be printed on numerous items ranging from apparel, drinkware, bags, accessories, etc. Unfortunately, high quality custom plushies can't be print-on-demand. They require product development that includes a myriad of decisions just to get a prototype before the logistics kick in like buying in bulk, moving product, doing pre-orders, or a range of other options…
We've actually done a lot of research into plushies from vendors; best materials, pricing, connecting with other creators who have already released theirs, and much more. In fact, we could go on and on about all of that, but the truth of the matter is it's just not feasible...yet.
Y'all will definitely be the firsts to know when we get to that point but for now it's a beautiful sight to see as part of our Glob Arcade!
Lemon Drop
Overall, our favorite sport to watch and play is hands down basketball, and we'd be very surprised if this is the first you're hearing about it. Similar to DDR, we always have to compete at the basketball game when we're at an arcade!
We've named our version Lemon Drop as an ode to Lemon Streams which are live streams where Doza solo streams. Why Lemon? Well for those that don't already know it's a story we'll save for another time but it's something that has stuck thanks to the community's interest and initiative.
Some of the Globs in the community have even asked Nush what her future solo streams would be called and she chose Mango as it's her favorite fruit. That's why in the Lemon Drop game you see most of the balls you are trying to get in the hoop are lemons but there is also one cheeky mango lying in wait as we patiently wait for Nush's first solo stream some day in the near future!
We hope you enjoyed learning more about The Glob Arcade design and thank you so much for celebrating our 4th anniversary with us!
